What families say

Monadnock is a genuinely challenging climb rather than a stroll—expect steep, rocky sections and plan on around 4 hours for the popular White Dot up/White Cross down loop, though families report kids as young as 10 (and younger) making it work with good shoes and plenty of water. Reservations are required for parking, and if you want a quieter, more technical alternative, the Marlborough trail has small parking (about 10 cars) and sees far fewer crowds. Bring extra water, a jacket in case of rain, and start early enough to summit and descend well before dark.
