Terms & Conditions

Effective date: July 8, 2026 · Operated by Atheneum Academy LLC

1. What Romeschool Is

Romeschool is a classical curriculum publisher. Operated by Atheneum Academy LLC, we author and publish a classical humanities curriculum — courses, readings, discussion, writing assignments, rubrics, quizzes, and assessments — delivered to homeschooling families by subscription.

Your subscription also includes, at no extra charge, a suite of record-keeping and organization tools: planning and logging instruction, portfolios and transcripts, tracking education-related expenses, organizing curriculum information, discovering field trips, and preparing state filing documents and notices.

Romeschool is not a school, a government agency, a law firm, an accounting firm, or a financial advisor. We publish curriculum and provide software; we do not enroll students, employ teachers, or grant accredited credentials. Instruction is delivered by the parent. See Section 8 ("Important Disclaimers"), which is central to these Terms.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any child whose information you enter, or otherwise legally authorized to act on that child's behalf. The Service is intended for use by adults.

Students never hold accounts or credentials. A student has no login, no password, and no way to sign in to the Service. Coursework is read on the parent's account. There is no in-app surface on which a student submits written work, and all uploads are made by the parent — including any work sample, photograph, or document added to a student's portfolio.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity under your account. We offer multi-factor authentication (MFA) and recommend you enable it. Notify us promptly at support@romeschool.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

You may sign in using email and password or a third-party login (Google). Your use of a third-party login is also subject to that provider's terms.

5. Subscriptions, Pricing & Billing

Plans. Access to paid features requires a subscription. Current offerings and prices are described at the point of purchase and on our pricing page.

Founding Family pricing. Where we offer a locked or promotional rate (for example, a founding rate that does not increase for the life of the subscription), the specific terms shown at checkout control. Promotional eligibility windows close on the date stated at the time of the offer.

Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Your purchase is also subject to Stripe's terms and privacy policy.

Renewals. Unless stated otherwise at purchase, subscriptions renew automatically at the then-applicable rate for your plan until cancelled.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time via your account settings or by contacting support@romeschool.app. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current term unless covered by our refund policy below.

Refunds. We offer a full refund through the midpoint of the first academic semester from which you purchase — fall (August 1–December 31) or spring (January 1–June 30) — or within 30 days of your initial purchase for that term, whichever is later. Prior access to the Service does not affect your eligibility for a refund within that window, and no minimum or maximum amount of lesson activity affects it. After the applicable window closes, all sales are final except where required by applicable law.

Price changes. We may change prices for new terms with at least 30 days' notice. Any renewal rate you were expressly told is guaranteed for the life of your account will be honored as stated at the time of that offer. Founding-family pricing is banded: the discounted first-year price of an early band is a one-time introductory rate, and renewals are billed at the guaranteed founding renewal rate disclosed at purchase.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable homeschool, education, privacy, or other law
  • Enter information about a child you are not authorized to represent
  • Upload content that is illegal, infringing, harassing, or that you do not have the right to share
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours, or probe, scan, or test the security of the Service without authorization
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, resell, redistribute our published curriculum, or build a competing product from the Service

We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe creates risk to other users, children, or the Service.

7. Your Content

You own Your Content. "Your Content" includes the information and files you add to the Service — children's names, dates of birth and grade levels, planner and logbook entries, curriculum notes, uploaded work samples, expense records, and filing details. Your Content does not include the curriculum we publish, which remains ours (see Section 10).

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, back up, display back to you, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use the contents of your children's records to train third-party AI models.

You are responsible for the accuracy of Your Content and for keeping your own copies of anything important to you (for example, records you may need for a state filing or an ESA program).

8. Important Disclaimers — No Legal, Tax, or Educational Advice

This section is essential and you should read it carefully.

Homeschool law and state requirements. Romeschool helps you organize records and prepare documents such as a Notice of Intent. We do not provide legal advice, and our tools, templates, alerts, and "state requirements" content are for general informational and organizational purposes only. Homeschool laws differ by state and change over time. You are solely responsible for understanding and meeting your own state's and locality's requirements. Verify anything that matters with your state's official sources or your own attorney. We do not guarantee that using Romeschool satisfies any legal obligation.

ESA / education savings programs. Expense-tracking and eligibility features are organizational tools, not tax, financial, or program-eligibility advice. Program rules (including which expenses qualify and which vendors are approved) are set and changed by the programs and states that administer them, not by us. You are responsible for confirming eligibility and approved use directly with the relevant program. An entry in Romeschool does not mean an expense is reimbursable or approved.

AI-assisted features. Some features use artificial intelligence to provide suggestions — curriculum matching, logbook parsing, or an in-app assistant. AI output is guidance, not a guarantee. It may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-assisted suggestion before relying on it.

Educational outcomes. We do not warrant any particular educational result, curriculum fit, or academic outcome.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on, links to, or integrates with third parties (including Stripe, Google, and data sources for field-trip and park information). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its software, design, brand name "Romeschool," logos, wordmark, and related marks — and all curriculum we publish, including course text, readings, assignments, rubrics, assessments, and illustrations, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service and to use our curriculum for the education of the students in your own household for as long as your subscription is active. You may print or copy curriculum materials as needed for that purpose. You may not resell, republish, redistribute, or share our curriculum outside your household, use it to teach students outside your household for a fee, or use our brand or marks without permission.

11. Beta, Demo & Pre-Launch Features

Parts of the Service may be offered on a pre-launch, beta, or demonstration basis and may change, break, or be removed. Courses are published on a stated calendar and arrive over time. Demonstration accounts and sample data are illustrative only and are not real family records.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT OR ALERT IS COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR CORRECT.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. On termination, your right to use the Service — including your license to our published curriculum — ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (including Sections 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, and 14) will survive.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will provide at least 14 days' notice (for example, by posting the updated date or notifying you by email). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
