Plan to spend the better part or all of a day here—driving the scenic 33-mile rim road alone takes time, and reviewers rate it a must-do with hiking trails, camping, and a lodge with basic food in summer. Note that Wizard Island boat tours aren't running in 2026-2027 due to trail rehab, and some rim road sections and Cleetwood Cove trail are currently closed, so check ahead. Weekdays and sunny days are recommended for smaller crowds and the best views of the famous blue water; winter visits are stunning but cold with limited services, so keep kids back from the cliff edges.
