Biosphere 2 offers a self-guided walk through different biomes that feels part science center, part botanical garden—kids and parents both learn a lot, especially if you download the on-site app for the video explanations at each stop. Be prepared for a mostly walk-and-watch experience rather than hands-on activities (a couple of reviewers wanted more explanation of how the systems actually worked), and consider adding the extra "iron lung" behind-the-scenes tour if your kids like engineering details. Bring water bottles for the walk, expect an isolated drive to get there, and know that crowds are rarely an issue.
