Kids seem to enjoy the variety here—giraffe and aviary feedings, penguins, a red panda, Sumatran tiger, and other hands-on animal encounters make for a solid day out, though plan for a fair amount of walking so an overcast day is ideal. A few reviewers noted empty exhibits without explanation and ongoing construction, and one visitor was troubled by animals appearing distressed, so it's worth checking current conditions before you go. Overall families with young kids report a fun, easygoing experience, especially compared to the bigger (but farther) Indy Zoo.
