Families rave about the strikingly blue spring water, the short (about a mile) walking loop around the lake, and the wildlife you can spot along the way—ducks, turtles, beavers, and more—plus a historic train station and waterfall that make for a nice picnic or break-in-the-drive stop. Most visitors call it clean, peaceful, and well worth a visit, though one reviewer had an unsettling experience with a false accusation and mentioned police say they deal with people photographing children there, so parents may want to stay alert and keep kids in sight. Plan for a short visit (an hour or so for the loop) unless you're combining it with swimming or a nearby event.
